Solidarioen elkartasun ekimena After being imprisoned, the policy of dispersal is applied, this means to send those under arrest hundreds of miles away from home, family, affective, social, cultural and political environment, leaving them alone and isolated. Furthermore, they're not only sent to a far jail, but once there, the prisoners are dispersed in different departments.

Nowadays there are 670 Basque political prisoners imprisoned in four different states and dispersed in 83 jails. Concerning the Spanish state there are 512 different Basque political prisoners in 52 jails and there is an average distance of 694 kilometres from the Basque Country.

There are just 15 prisoners being held in jails in the South of the Basque Country (The part of the Basque Country ruled by the Spanish state), other 152 in the French State, dispersed in 30 jails in an average distance of 824 kilometres, not being any in the jails situated in Ipar Euskal Herria. 5 Basque political prisoners are in Mexican jails and one in prison in London.

When we talk about the policy of dispersal, we talk about a constant violation of rights.
